About Bella Vista

Discover Bella Vista

Bella Vista, meaning "Beautiful View" in Spanish, lives up to its name with sweeping panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Located approximately 9 miles northeast of Redding, this rural community offers spacious properties, a peaceful atmosphere, and a lifestyle centered around the beauty of the Northern California landscape. With its historic lumber town heritage, high homeownership rate, and generous lot sizes, Bella Vista is perfect for those seeking country living with mountain views.

Bella Vista has a fascinating history as a thriving lumber town. In 1888, the Shasta Lumber Company completed a 32-mile V-shaped lumber flume that transported lumber from Round Mountain to a mill in Bella Vista. At its peak, the town had a population of 2,000 with saloons, barber shops, and various stores. The Anderson and Bella Vista Railway, a 15-mile freight carrier established around 1891, transported goods to the Southern Pacific railhead in Anderson. Today, Bella Vista has transitioned into a peaceful residential community.
