About Hayfork

Discover Hayfork

Hayfork, whose original Wintu name Nor'el pom means "big valley at the base of the mountain", is a warm and welcoming community nestled in the broad Hayfork Valley of Trinity County. This is where Big Valley Properties calls home, and for good reason. With sweeping valley vistas, a proud rural heritage, and a community that looks out for its own, Hayfork offers the kind of authentic country living that many people dream about but few find.

The Hayfork Valley has been inhabited for thousands of years, first by the Nor'el Muk band of the Wintu people. European settlers arrived during the Gold Rush era, and the town grew as a center for ranching and timber. The first Trinity County Fair was held here in 1921, and the community has maintained its agricultural roots while evolving into a vibrant small town with modern amenities.
